 There is Development in Nature!

Organized in cooperation with Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF) and TEMA Foundation, “There is Development in Nature!” The talk event, the first stage of the social responsibility project, was held on October 19, 2022 at the IGU Tower Mehmet Akif Ersoy Conference Hall.

With the awareness that lands and all natural assets should be protected, the participants will be informed about the current situation of nature and the environment, with the conversation and guided botanical garden tour that supports on-site learning, and "environmental sustainability and environmental awareness" on issues such as global warming and climate change, sustainable life, plants under threat. Songül Çağışlar was hosted in the interview, which is the first stage of the social responsibility project, which aims to contribute to the development of the understanding of sustainability in daily life, by The theme of the presentation, which took place in two sessions, was “Environmental Awareness and Environmental Sustainability”.

Protecting and Protecting Life, That is, the Land

Songül Çağışlar started her conversation by talking about biodiversity and the living and non-living elements of the ecosystem, and continued by explaining the distribution of living organisms in Turkey. He talked about the fact that Turkey is at a transition point between large continental areas, is surrounded by seas, and is home to many species of creatures due to the coexistence of different climate types. He then touched upon endangered animal species by giving examples from species living in Turkey.

In the second part of the conversation, explanations were made about the ecosystem types. Numerical analyzes of endemic species living in Turkey were shared. Endangered creatures and the causes of this extinction; It was emphasized that the destruction of habitats, overfishing, uniform agriculture, pollution, climate change. In the last part of the presentation, questions that prompted the participants to think about biodiversity, climate change, soil and water were asked. After the participants shared their thoughts, the interview ended.

Offering Solution Suggestions to Future Generations

In the project team, Communication and Design Department Res. See. Büşra Kamacıoğlu stated that Songül Çağışlar's presentation contributes to raising awareness about the issue in today's world where climate changes are experienced and global warming is increasing, and that it creates awareness by offering solutions to future generations. He thanked all the Tema foundation volunteers, especially Ms. Songül, for the pleasant conversation that took place in an interactive environment.

Continuing with Guided Botanical Garden Tour!

In the second stage of the project, a "Guided Botanical Garden Tour" to be held within the framework of the headings of "Plant diversity, global warming and climate change, sustainable life" is expected to be organized in the Nezahat Gökyiğit Botanical Garden, and in the third stage, a photography exhibition featuring the results of the activities carried out is expected.
