Double Major Program

The Double Major Program allows students who successfully pursue their primary undergraduate degree programs with outstanding achievement to study in a second undergraduate program free of charge and receive a second diploma upon request, in accordance with the provisions of the Istanbul Gelişim University Associate and Undergraduate Education-Teaching and Examination Regulations. The double major program encompasses the required and elective courses of the department in which the double major is pursued. The courses and credits that the student must complete within the scope of the program are determined upon the recommendation of the relevant department and faculty boards and the approval of the University Senate, taking into consideration the field competencies established by the Council of Higher Education.

Application Requirements for the Double Major Program

  • A student may apply to the double major degree program at the beginning of the third semester at the earliest, and at the beginning of the fifth semester at the latest in four-year programs of their primary undergraduate degree program.
  • The student must have successfully completed all credit courses in the primary program up to the semester applied for and must not have received any disciplinary penalties.
  • The student's Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) at the time of application must be at least 70 out of 100 or 2.72 out of 4.00, and the student must rank within the top 20% of their registered class.
  • Students whose CGPA meets the required level but who are not ranked within the top 20% may apply if they possess a placement score that is not lower than the base score of the program they wish to pursue a double major in for the relevant year.
  • Double major applications cannot be made between Turkish and English medium instruction programs bearing the same name. Only lateral transfer applications can be made between these programs.
  • In the case of applying to a program taught partially or fully in a foreign language, the student must obtain a score of at least 70 out of 100 on the foreign language proficiency examination administered by the School of Foreign Languages or an equivalent score on national or international examinations recognized by the University Senate.
  • In order for a student registered through lateral transfer to apply for a double major program, they must have studied for at least one semester in the undergraduate program in which they are enrolled. Students registered through vertical transfer cannot apply for the double major program.

Minor Program

The Minor Program allows students who successfully pursue their primary undergraduate degree programs to study in a second undergraduate field of interest free of charge and receive a minor certificate, in accordance with the provisions of the Istanbul Gelişim University Associate and Undergraduate Education-Teaching and Examination Regulations. The minor program does not grant the right to a diploma independent of the primary program in which the student is enrolled. Students who successfully complete the program are awarded a minor certificate for the field in which they studied.

Application, Admission, and Registration Requirements for the Minor Program

  • A student cannot enroll in more than one minor program at the same time. However, a minor and a double major program may be pursued simultaneously.
  • A student may select a maximum of three minor programs during application and is placed in a program according to their preference order.
  • Applications are submitted to the department headship of the program in which the minor is desired on the dates specified in the academic calendar, along with an application form and a transcript.
  • The student's CGPA at the time of application must be at least 65 out of 100 or 2.50 out of 4.00.
  • The student must have successfully completed all credit courses in the primary undergraduate program up to the semester applied for and must not have received any disciplinary penalties.
  • A student may apply to an announced minor program at the beginning of the third semester at the earliest, and at the beginning of the sixth semester at the latest of their primary undergraduate degree program.
  • The quotas determined by the University Senate for undergraduate programs that will accept minor students are announced on the University website at least 30 days prior to the start of the relevant semester.

  • Admission is finalized upon the recommendation of the applied department and the decision of the relevant executive board.
