Istanbul Gelişim University Faculty of Fine Arts offers modern laboratory, workshop, and studio facilities to enable students to transform their theoretical knowledge into practice, experience creative production processes, and enhance their professional competencies.Faculty students can carry out practical studies required by the fields of art, design, architecture, communication, cinema, television, and gastronomy in spaces equipped with diverse features and functions. Across the university, there are 150 laboratories and 22 research centers compliant with international accreditation standards, and Faculty of Fine Arts students benefit from laboratories, workshops, and studios related to their respective fields.
The Design Workshop located in Room 210 of J Block is a practice area open to the shared use of the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. In the workshop, where studies are carried out at the intersection of art, design, architecture, and media disciplines, students transform the knowledge acquired in theoretical courses into practical work and creative products. Covering an area of 160 square meters with a capacity of 39 students, the Design Workshop provides students with the opportunity to develop their aesthetic perceptions, thinking skills, and unique forms of expression.
The Faculty of Fine Arts houses drawing and basic art workshops in rooms 201, 234, 260, 272, 280, 284, 285, and 288. Drawing workshops are working environments where students can engage in practical work in drawing, design, visual expression, and basic art. In these areas, students translate the theoretical knowledge gained in classes into practice to develop original products, enhancing their aesthetic perception and visual thinking skills.
Located in Room 272 of J Block, the Basic Art Workshop is a 20-person workspace where practical courses in art and design are conducted. In this workshop, students have the opportunity to support the theoretical knowledge gained within the scope of basic art education with practical studies, experiencing different materials, techniques, and forms of expression.
Located on the -1 floor of J Block, the Innovative Studio is a flexible production space where Faculty of Fine Arts students can realize their in-class and extracurricular projects. Students can arrange the studio according to the nature of their work and carry out individual or team project development, shooting, rehearsal, meeting, and creative production activities. Res. Asst. Okan Kırbacı serves as the head of the studio.
The Applied Communication Laboratory is designed to enable students to develop their theoretical knowledge in communication and media through practice. The laboratory features state-of-the-art cameras, shooting accessories, sound, and lighting equipment. Students can perform tabletop product photography as well as Black Box and Green Box applications, experiencing industry working conditions in new media, television programming, and advertising. The equipment in the laboratory is regularly renewed and updated in line with educational needs and technological developments.
Located in J Block, the Plato-RTV Studio is a practice area with an 80-person capacity open to the shared use of students from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Faculty of Applied Sciences, and Vocational School. Utilizing the camera, lighting, decor, and auxiliary equipment available in the studio, students can carry out their coursework applications and bring their extracurricular projects to life.
There are eight computer laboratories open to the use of Faculty of Fine Arts students. These laboratories support courses and applications in various fields such as design, visual communication, digital production, research, data analysis, and office programs. The computer laboratories allow students to use software relevant to their fields, develop digital projects, and advance their technological competencies.
The Keyboard and SPSS Computer Laboratory supports students in acquiring skills in computer usage, fast and accurate typing, data analysis, and digital office applications. The laboratory aims for students to type in accordance with proper posture and sitting techniques, and to develop fast and efficient working habits while adhering to spelling and grammar rules. In addition, it contributes to the development of digital competencies needed in academic and professional environments through office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
The Workshop Studies Hall is a shared production area where students can prepare their term work and final projects. Students can work individually or in teams in this hall, carrying out design, scale model, drawing, and project development processes.
A Material Workshop has been established in a designated area within the IGU Central Library in J Block for use in the practical courses of the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design and the Department of Interior Architecture. The workshop assists students in getting to know different materials, examining material properties, and conducting material-oriented applications in design processes. Efforts to establish a scale model workshop within the faculty are also ongoing.

Responsible faculty members are assigned to the laboratories and workshops open to the faculty's use, and the capacity, usage area, fixtures, and equipment of these spaces are regularly monitored. Processes regarding meetings, training, fixtures, inventory assignments, and device usage for laboratories and workshops are carried out by the IGU Research Laboratories Coordination Office. Relevant forms and operating instructions are periodically shared with laboratory supervisors to ensure that educational activities are conducted safely, systematically, and uninterruptedly in laboratory environments.
