Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Turkish and English Programs merged: A strong vision for the new term!
The Turkish and English programs of the Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department, within the Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA) at Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), have been merged, effective from the 2024 academic year.
The Turkish and English programs of the Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department, within the Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA) at Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), have been merged to strengthen the academic structure and enhance the quality of education. This strategic decision aims to provide students with a broader perspective, promote interdisciplinary interactions, and offer the opportunity to receive education in multiple languages.
Asst. Prof. İbrahim Erol, who has been appointed as the Head of the Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (Turkish / English) Department, stated that the goal is to create an educational model that meets global standards in the fields of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design. Erol remarked, "This merger is a significant development for our university's internationalization strategy. The new process will expand our students' educational opportunities, preparing them to become the interior architects and designers of the future. Our goal is to offer a comprehensive education that will equip students with the knowledge and skills to compete on an international level".
Erol also noted that the new academic structure will be supported by practical studies and international projects, contributing to the professional development of students. He added, "As a department, our aim is to enhance our students' global outlook through academic collaborations on both national and international levels, as well as through seminars, interviews, workshops, and other academic activities involving external stakeholders who have achieved success in the industry. These initiatives will strengthen university-industry cooperation and facilitate communication between students and professionals".
Lecturer Esra Büyükemir Karagöz, who has been appointed as Vice Head of the Department, aims to guide students in their educational journey and contribute to their development, in addition to managing academic processes. Highlighting her support for the department's innovative projects, Karagöz stated, "This merger will enable our students to grow into more competent individuals in the field of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, and it will provide them with global perspectives".
