The 2nd Traditional SATMER Culture and Art Festival!

The 'Traditional SATMER Culture and Art Festival', organized for the second time this year by Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU) Art and Design Application and Research Center (SATMER) with the support of the Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), was successfully completed with the third-day events and closing program held on May 14, 2026. The final day of the festival offered participants a rich cultural and artistic experience, bringing together various disciplines of art through workshops, music recitals, theater performances, and concerts.

Workshops Continued Throughout the Day

The workshops held at the J Block Hangar Festival Area on the third day of the festival began at 10:00 AM and continued all day. Participants showed great interest in hands-on activities in diverse fields such as handicrafts, gemstone cutting art, gourd carving, wood carving, basket weaving, patchwork, candle making, painting, and epoxy design. These sessions allowed students and visitors to closely observe traditional production techniques and actively participate in creative processes.

Music and Stage Performances Attracted Great Interest

The performance program of the day began at 12:00 PM with a ney and bendir recital. While the authentic sounds of traditional Turkish music created an impressive atmosphere in the festival area, participants had the chance to experience the artistic dimension of cultural heritage firsthand. At 1:00 PM, the Istanbul Gelişim University Theater Club took the stage and received great acclaim from the audience. Reflecting the students' interest in performing arts and their creative expression skills, the performance stood out as one of the key events strengthening the interdisciplinary structure of the festival.

The closing concert of the festival was performed by Grup Çarşamba at 2:00 PM. Delivering an energetic performance with a wide repertoire, the group brought an enthusiastic atmosphere to the festival's finale. Following the concert, the three-day event series was successfully completed with a closing ceremony.

A Three-Day Festival Concluded with the Unifying Power of Art

Throughout the Traditional SATMER Culture and Art Festival, the exhibitions, workshops, talks, music recitals, and stage performances strongly reflected the academic vision of Istanbul Gelişim University in supporting art and design. By enabling students to engage with different fields of art not only through theoretical knowledge but also through applied and experience-based activities, the festival provided a significant cultural contribution to university life and offered an inspiring and unforgettable experience for all participants.
