 “Technology Literacy” Talk Held as Part of the “Future Skills” Event Series
As part of the sixth week of its Spring Semester events, Istanbul Gelişim University Faculty of Fine Arts hosted a talk titled "Technology Literacy: Critical Skills for Preparing for the Future". The event was moderated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Erdem Çağla, with guest speaker Melek Gülşen, a graduate student in Visual Communication Design and a communication designer. The discussion emphasized that technology literacy is not limited to technical knowledge alone; it also encompasses critical thinking, effective use of media tools, and digital content production. Drawing on her professional experience, Melek Gülşen highlighted the growing importance of digital competencies in creative industries, providing concrete examples from her own career. The event underscored the need for individuals, especially young designers, to develop a well-rounded set of digital skills to navigate the evolving media and communication landscape.
