The exhibition catalogue prepared as part of the “Society and Culture” Group Exhibition, organized by STA Congress in collaboration with Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), has been published. Bringing together art and design practices within the framework of social and cultural transformation, the exhibition presents works by artists from different disciplines under a shared conceptual framework.

Held online on 20–21 July 2026, the “Society and Culture” Group Exhibition aims to make the multilayered relationship between society and culture visible through art and design. Curated by Lect. Dr. İrem Fulya Özkan, the exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue that brings together the exhibited works and the artistic practices of the participating artists in a permanent publication.

Within the conceptual framework of the exhibition, society is approached as a dynamic field shaped by interpersonal relationships and shared experiences, while culture is considered as the totality of values, symbols, and ways of life produced within this field. Accordingly, the works featured in the exhibition offer diverse visual approaches to the relationship between society and culture through themes including social relations, cultural memory, traditional values, contemporary life practices, belonging, and social transformation.

The exhibition features works by eight artists: Berit Yıldır, Hasan Dilim, Hülya Havva Yarımca, İsmet Çavuşoğlu, Mevlüt Can Koçak, Nazif Özdemir, Serpil Uysal, and Tahir Büyükkaragöz. Bringing together different techniques and modes of expression, the selection addresses a broad conceptual field ranging from individual isolation in the digital age and cultural memory to traditional architecture, belonging, and coexistence. The use of various techniques, including ballpoint pen drawing, 3D digital design, lino print, oil painting, photography, watercolor, and mixed media, further strengthens the interdisciplinary character of the exhibition.

By bringing together works by artists from different geographical regions within a shared conceptual framework, the online exhibition creates a space for reconsidering issues such as social structures, cultural diversity, belonging, and transformation through art. In this respect, the exhibition goes beyond functioning solely as a platform for displaying artworks and establishes an academic and cultural space in which contemporary social and cultural issues can be explored through art and design.

The “Society and Culture” Group Exhibition Catalogue, prepared as part of the exhibition, is significant in terms of documenting, archiving, and providing lasting access to the exhibited works. Bringing together the artists’ practices, artwork manifestos, and the conceptual framework of the exhibition, the catalogue provides a comprehensive visual archive of contemporary art and design practices.

The catalogue and publication information are available through STA Congress, while the online exhibition experience can be accessed through STA Exhibition.
