Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Students attended the Building Fair!

Students from the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (English Program) at Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), visited Building Fair 2026, one of the largest gatherings in the construction industry, to examine sectoral innovations on-site.

Students of the Istanbul Gelişim University Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (English) Department conducted a significant technical field trip to support their professional development and reinforce their theoretical knowledge with current field applications. As part of the IAE256-Building and Construction Knowledge II course, students attended Building Fair – Turkeybuild Istanbul 2026, which opened its doors for the 48th time this year between April 27-30.

At the fair, which is one of the most established and comprehensive organizations in the sector, students had the opportunity to closely discover innovative building materials, sustainable construction technologies, and smart building solutions. Accompanied by their course instructor, Asst. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Erol, the future interior architects visited various stands and expanded their visions by receiving information from professionals regarding the application processes of building components.

Thanks to the events organized during the fair and the next-generation design products on display, our students had the chance to observe the industry counterparts of the "building and construction knowledge" topics included in their course content. It was emphasized that such technical trips play a critical role in students' adaptation to professional life after graduation and help them establish a stronger relationship between material and technology in their design decisions.

The Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design continues to train its students as high-tech designers who are well-versed in current developments through sectoral collaborations and field trips.
