 "Green Production" Highlighted at IGU: Cinema and Sustainability in the 10th Week of the Future Skills Project
The Future Skills project, conducted by the Faculty of Fine Arts at Istanbul Gelişim University, continues to provide students with interdisciplinary awareness throughout the 2024–2025 Spring Semester. The 10th-week event of the project, held on May 23, 2025, focused on the theme of Sustainability and Environmental Responsibility. The event, led by Research Assistant Eda Türkay, brought together students from the Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema. The main objective of this week’s session was to explore the relationship between creative industries and environmental awareness.
 
Under the title "Let’s Build Sustainable Industries", the presentation and discussions addressed current environmental issues such as the climate crisis, depletion of water and energy resources, and waste management from a broad perspective. The role of the cinema industry in these processes was especially emphasized, with a focus on the environmental impact of film production, including carbon footprints, set design, and resource consumption. Participants were reminded that cinema is not only a storytelling medium but also a powerful tool for driving transformation.
