Assoc. Prof. Murat Doğan, a faculty member of the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts at Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), attended Sultan Alparslan Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School on May 5, 2026, as part of the TÜBİTAK Science Talks.
During the event, Assoc. Prof. Murat Doğan delivered a talk titled “Food Safety”, in which he informed students about the risks that may be encountered in food consumption, the measures that should be taken to prevent these risks, and the importance of cultural cuisines in terms of sustainability. The talk emphasized that food safety is critically important not only for individual health but also for public health and economic sustainability. Students had the opportunity to ask their questions directly about safe food consumption and the preservation of cultural cuisines.
The aim of TÜBİTAK Science Talks is to encourage young people’s interest in scientific subjects and to raise scientific awareness by enabling them to benefit from the experiences of academics who are experts in their fields. The event held at Sultan Alparslan Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School also made a significant contribution to raising students’ awareness of both food safety and gastronomic culture.
At the end of the event, the school administration thanked Assoc. Prof. Murat Doğan and presented him with flowers. The talk was successfully completed as a scientific meeting marked by strong student interest and interactive participation.
