Held in Diyarbakir, the 2nd International Dicle Documentary and Short Film Festival awarded its winners. This year’s event received 3,064 film submissions from 116 countries. After a 9-month selection process, the 24 finalist films were screened over two days, accompanied by various discussions and panels. The screenings and discussions took place on November 2-3, following an opening with a moment of silence and the Turkish National Anthem. Awards were then presented to the top three films.
Ahmet Bikiç, festival director and Lecturer at İGÜ's Faculty of Fine Arts and Deputy Director in the Corporate Communications Office, explained that finalists were selected after a lengthy 9-month process, and the festival aimed to connect emerging filmmakers with industry professionals. He emphasized that the festival was not only about film screenings but also included discussions to create a meaningful platform for young filmmakers to engage with sector representatives.
İGÜ Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Arda Öztürkcan noted a significant increase in participation compared to the festival's inaugural year, with 3,064 submissions from 116 countries. Juries from 12 universities evaluated the finalists.
