New Ways of Thinking Discovered at the “Pushing the Boundaries of Creativity” Event

The Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA) at Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU) hosted an inspiring event focused on creative disciplines as part of the “Future Skills” project on May 26, 2025. Moderated by Lecturer Kerem Yükseloğlu, the event titled “Pushing the Boundaries of Creativity: New Ways of Thinking” explored the importance of discovering alternative modes of thinking and developing creative problem-solving methods.

In a world where creative production processes in art, design, and communication are becoming increasingly diverse, the event emphasized the necessity of moving beyond traditional frameworks. It highlighted the view that creativity is not merely an innate talent, but also a process that can be developed, directed, and taught.

Throughout the event, Yükseloğlu guided participants on an intellectual journey that combined theoretical insights with contemporary practice examples. Topics such as lateral thinking in design, intuitive creation in art, and creative storytelling in media practices were discussed, allowing students to gain new creative perspectives through examples drawn from various disciplines.

One of the most engaging parts of the session was the interactive thinking exercises, where participants worked on solving classical problems through unconventional approaches. These activities provided students with tangible evidence that creative thinking is a skill that can be both experienced and transformed.

At the end of the event, participating students expressed that they felt inspired to go beyond traditional methods and develop multidimensional and original thinking practices. The session also underscored the positive impact of interdisciplinary interaction on creative processes.

The “Future Skills” project at Istanbul Gelişim University continues to support students not only in their academic development but also in enhancing their innovative, critical, and creative thinking capacities.
