 We Asked External Stakeholders About Our Curriculum!

Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF), Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema met with Academy Görsak and apart Art Association, with which it has established external stakeholder relations, in online meetings.
The Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema, which attaches great importance to external stakeholder relations and plans events by hosting its external stakeholders at departmental board meetings every year, brought the curriculum to the agenda at the external stakeholder meetings held in the spring semester of the 2022-2023 academic year.

“It is possible to Develop a Joint Project”

Serap Durmaz attended the external stakeholder meeting held with Akademi Görsak on behalf of the institution. Head of department asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan from the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, Asst. Prof. Dr. Rabiya Saltik, deputy head of the department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Önder Paker, one of the academicians of the department, and Okan Kırbacı and Eda Çekemci, research assistants of the department attended. At the meeting, Res. Asst. Okan Kırbacı talked about the curriculum of the department and the new courses opened in the department. After asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan, who mentioned the difficulties that students experience in applying for a job, Asst. Prof. Dr. Önder Paker expressed that students should have projects so that they do not experience these problems and that they can exist in the sector. At this point, the necessity of having a "Project Development" course in the curriculum was emphasized. Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan's idea about converting the existing "Film Industry and Finance" course into a project course was discussed. Serap Durmaz from Görsak Academy was consulted on the suitability of the curriculum for the industry. While Durmaz supported the ideas about project development, he emphasized that the curriculum was suitable for the sector. He put forward the idea of developing a joint project in the future.

Asuman Türkmen attended the external stakeholder meeting held with the Apart Art Association on behalf of the institution. Head of the Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan, vice president asst. Prof. Dr. Rabiya Saltik, department academic Önder Paker, and department research assistant Eda Çekemci attended. Emphasizing that the fact that students take part in large-scale works such as the Uşak International Short Film Festival and the International Short Film, Video and Photography Symposium, which are currently being carried out with the apart Art Association, is a huge plus besides the education they receive, Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan underlined the satisfaction received from these collaborations as a department. Similarly, Asuman Türkmen mentioned that there are students of Istanbul Gelişim University whose articles are published on the platform of the Apart Art Association and added that they are happy about this. In addition to the curriculum, he especially emphasized that it is very valuable to be conducting such intertwined and parallel works with the sector.

The meetings ended after sharing the current developments with external stakeholders, taking their suggestions, and making new event/project planning.
