A Program Ensuring Quality in Higher Education Institutions: Institutional Accreditation Program (IAP)
The Institutional Accreditation Program(IAP), initiated by the Higher Education Quality Council(YÖKAK), stands out as a valuable external evaluation program that sheds light on quality assurance, education and training, research and development, societal contribution, and management systems processes in the field of higher education.
Planning and Evaluation Process
IAP is a systematic process in which higher education institutions are evaluated based on the "planning, implementation, control, and action" cycle. This process is conducted by expert evaluation teams formed by YÖKAK, in line with the "Institutional External Evaluation and Accreditation Criteria" and "Guidelines."
Visits and Reporting
A two-stage visit program is carried out annually for designated higher education institutions, beginning with a preliminary visit followed by an on-site visit. The institutional accreditation reports prepared after these visits play a significant role in determining YÖKAK's final accreditation decisions.
Types of Accreditation
Based on the evaluations, YÖKAK can issue three types of accreditation decisions:
-
Full accreditation (valid for 5 years),
-
Conditional accreditation (valid for 2 years),
-
Rejection of accreditation.
This program makes a significant contribution to enhancing the competitiveness and quality of higher education institutions at both national and international levels. For more detailed information, you can visit YÖKAK's official website.
