The third of the information meetings organized by the Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA) to support the academic and professional careers of international students in line with its internationalization goals was held. At the event held on the 17th Floor of the IGU Tower, comprehensive information was conveyed by the faculty academic staff regarding the students' participation processes in scientific projects and internship opportunities.
Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA) continues its efforts to integrate the international student community more actively into education, research, and sector practices within the scope of the university's internationalization mission. The third of the student meetings aimed at preparing students for their professional careers and academic processes was held on Tuesday, April 7, at 13:30 on the 17th Floor of the IGU Tower.
Aiming to strengthen interdisciplinary knowledge sharing and communication, the meeting took place with the full participation of the faculty management and department heads. FFA Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Doğan, Head of the Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department Asst. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Erol, Head of the Interior Architecture Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Kadir Öz, Head of the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department Prof. Dr. Aslı Albayrak, Head of the Graphic Design Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Erdem Çağla, Head of the Radio, Television and Cinema Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan, Head of the Visual Communication Design Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Çağdaş Topçu, and Res. Asst. Mustafa Dallı attended the event.
Academic Projects and Internship Opportunities Were Discussed
The main focus of the meeting was the involvement of international students in scientific research processes within the university and the internship opportunities they can utilize during their preparation for professional business life. The direct impact of students not being limited to theoretical education but actively participating in TUBITAK, Scientific Research Projects (BAP), and international academic studies on their professional resumes (CVs) was emphasized.
During the briefings given by the faculty members, internship application processes that will enable students to gain sector experience before graduating, external stakeholder collaborations, and in-house research activities were discussed in detail. Touching upon the importance of taking part in writing articles, papers, and research projects for career building, it was stated at the meeting that the doors are always open to students in all processes and full academic support will be provided.
The gathering, which attracted great interest from international students studying in different departments, continued with general situation evaluations made between the academic staff and the students. The event concluded productively with the encouragement of international students to participate in intra-faculty studies and the evaluation of joint activities planned for the upcoming period.
