İnanç Türkeş Private High School (Tevitöl) organized an art workshop for World Art Day Four artists came together at the workshop that took place on May 6th. Among them, Istanbul Gelişim University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Graphic Design Department Res. Asst. Young artists from Turkey such as Seydi Murat Koç, Burak Kutlay, and Görkem Dikel were invited as guest trainers to the workshop, in which Ceren İren was also present. The artists, who came together with the Tevitöl students, first explained their artistic approaches and techniques through their works, and then the students participated in the workshops of the artists they chose and produced paintings in the same style.
There was great interest in the event, which enabled high school students to get to know and experience the field of Fine Arts better.
One of the faculty members of our university, Res. Asst. Ceren İren produced works with the theme of "Insect", which is also at the center of her paintings, with the students who chose her in the workshop where she was an instructor. While explaining the paintings and techniques using insect images from the history of art, İren talked to the students about the insect species she observed and collected in nature and how these insects inspired their production. Pointing out that half the population of all living things is made up of insects, İren informed students about both the physical structures and lives of insect species that we often ignore in nature, and the plastic arts' color, form, harmony, composition, etc. He also shed light on the artist's process of visualizing his inspiration by touching upon his main themes. The students painted the insects they designed on large canvases in line with the information and inferences they learned from the first session.
