Taş Tepeler Karahantepe Documentary, directed by Ahmet Bikiç, a lecturer from Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF), Communication and Design Department, was selected as a finalist in two separate international film festivals. “Taş Tepeler – Karahantepe Documentary”, shot within the scope of “Karahantepe Film Workshop”, was selected as a finalist among 3700 films at the “International Folklore Film Festival”, the sixth of which was held in India this year. "Taş Tepeler – Karahantepe Documentary" is a documentary about Karahantepe, which is thought to be even older than Göbeklitepe, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and is located right next to this region. In addition, "Taş Tepeler Karahantepe Documentary" directed by Ahmet Bikiç was also a finalist in the 5th International Bingöl Short Film Festival among 1800 films.
Shedding Light on Unknown Regions Is Important
Ahmet Bikic stated that shooting Karahantepe, a lesser-known spot, rather than Göbeklitepe, which has managed to attract the attention of the world and is a scientifically very important region, is more suitable for his approach to the documentary genre. For this reason, he said that it is very valuable to make a film by shedding light on a lesser-known region instead of an already known region and then being a finalist in international film festivals.
We congratulate the Lecturer/Director Ahmet Bikic for his success and wish him more good news.
