RTS student Bilge Kaan Alagöz becomes finalist in the Creative Video Competition!

Bilge Kaan Alagöz, a first-year student in the Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema at Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), has achieved significant success in the "Creative Video Competition" organized by the Creative Movement (Yaratıcılık Hareketi). Alagöz’s project, titled “Cennetten Bir Hikâye: Açılış Sahnesi” has earned a spot as a finalist in the competition.

The Creative Video Competition, rooted in the idea that creative thinking is accessible to everyone, challenges participants to express a creative concept visually through a short video. In the competition, which features videos no longer than three minutes, Bilge Kaan Alagöz’s project stood out for its original story and powerful narrative.

The finalist project is based on a fictional universe written by the student himself. “Cennetten Bir Hikâye: Açılış Sahnesi” depicts a dystopian order under the totalitarian "State of Mortzya," which demands a "life debt" from its citizens and grants the "right to die" only to those who have paid this debt.

Sharing his thoughts on the project, Bilge Kaan Alagöz expressed his journey through the competition with the following words:

"The Creative Video Competition is a platform that asks us to convey a creative idea at a visual level. I am very happy to have participated and been nominated as a finalist in this competition, which advocates that everyone can think creatively. Regarding my project, there isn't much to say that the title doesn't already suggest. It describes a fictional, totalitarian universe under the State of Mortzya—a critique of capitalism where people are charged a 'life debt' and given the 'right to die' once it is settled. When I saw the competition’s requirement to explain a creative idea in under three minutes, I immediately thought of filming the first scene of this screenplay. I really wanted to shoot this story that I enjoyed writing, and since this single scene provides so much information about the universe, I felt it was perfect for the contest. I am thrilled to be one of the nominees, but I could never have done this without my crew and fellow actors. Their support makes me happier than the result itself. I would also like to thank my professors who assisted with equipment, filming locations, and idea development."

We congratulate our student Bilge Kaan Alagöz on this achievement.
