Poster works were carried out by the Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (Tr&Eng) Departments, compiling the 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day documentaries.
Poster works of 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day documentaries were prepared by Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Fine Arts Faculty (GSF), Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (Tr&Eng) Departments. The poster emphasized the importance of July 15, Democracy and National Unity Day, and related documentaries were compiled and shared with QR codes. The posters prepared separately in Turkish and English included the following explanation:
"July 15 is the date when a coup attempt took place in Turkey. In this incident, the Turkish people took to the streets to protect democracy. The nation protected democracy by resisting tanks and planes. The coup attempt failed, but 251 of our citizens lost their lives. July 15 is the symbol of the Turkish nation's protection of democracy in unity and solidarity. This date strengthens our belief in democracy and freedom, and allows us to look to the future with hope by learning lessons from the past."
The poster prepared in English included the following explanation:
"On July 15, 2016, a terrorist organization attempted a coup against the Turkish government. The coup plotters aimed to suspend democratic institutions and establish military rule by occupying strategic locations such as airports, bridges, and television stations. However, the Turkish people responded with great unity by taking to the streets upon President Erdoğan's call to resist the coup. They displayed extraordinary courage and unity in defending the country's democratic order, marking a significant turning point in Turkish history. Throughout the night and into the morning of July 16th, loyal security forces and civilian resistance groups fought against the coup plotters. Although the coup attempt failed, 251 people lost their lives and thousands were injured. Many innocent civilians and security personnel sacrificed their lives in defense of democracy. Subsequently, the Turkish government initiated a comprehensive investigation to bring the coup plotters to justice and strengthen democratic institutions. July 15th is commemorated as the Day of Remembrance for the Martyrs, Democracy, and National Unity, serving as a tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for the preservation of democracy, unity, and Turkey's democratic values."
