Research Assistant Merve Karadaban's paper presentation "Tracing Solidarity Practices After Disasters: The Case of 2023 February Earthquakes in Hatay" is a research project of MSGSU Urbanism Research Application Centre Fatma Önder Earthquake Research Group. This research group came together as an online research initiative with the participation of academics, experts, and students from different cities and disciplines after the February 2023 earthquakes. It started to work on what could be done. FÖDAG-Open Research has been formed as a solidarity practice aiming to encourage collaborative knowledge production and increase access to information as the disconnect between academia and daily practices becomes more visible with the need for information after the earthquake. Fatma Önder Earthquake Research Group - Open Researches was named after her alma mater, Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Urbanism Research and Application Centre, to keep alive the memory of Dr. Fatma Önder, who lost her life in the earthquake.

In this process, FÖDAG-Open Research has carried out activities such as research and project design, event organization, calibration with different civil organizations and institutions, and the creation of an open knowledge portal. In this context, three different research projects are in progress.  The first one is a research project related to the discipline of planning and earthquake, the other one is the study of "Human Stories and Needs in the Axis of Mobility in Hatay" within the framework of the protocol made with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Turkey Acceleration Laboratory & Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (MSGSÜ) Urbanism Application and Research Centre. The third project is "Tracing Solidarity Practices After Disasters: 2023 February Earthquakes Hatay Case".

We congratulate Research Assistant Merve Karadaban for her presentation and wish her continued success.
