Little Chefs Graduated!
With the social responsibility project realized in cooperation with Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF), Radio, Television and Cinema Department and Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department, children in the 7-8 age group graduated in the last session of the project after the culinary training they attended.
The Social Responsibility Project of Transformation and Development in the Kitchen: Minimal Kitchen Trainings, which set out with the aim of enabling children in the 7-8 age group in Sevgi Houses to meet the gastronomy field and be involved in the production process, ended with the graduation session held on 3 December. Social responsibility project carried out under the supervision of Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts Asst. Prof. Dr. Sezgin Savaş, research assistants of the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department Ayşe Seray Çetin, Emel Çirişoğlu and Radio, Television and Cinema Department research assistants Eda Çekemci, Okan Kırbacı, in cooperation with Bahçelievler Şeyh Zayed Children's Houses Site was held for children living in Sevgi Houses. In the first three sessions of the project, which was planned as four sessions, children were given culinary training. In the first session, which focused on natural coloring, the children baked colorful cookies by obtaining their natural red and green color with beetroot and spinach; In the second session, within the framework of the waste-free kitchen theme, the children experienced making cakes using orange and lemon without creating waste. In the third session, the children made baby biscuits using natural sweeteners and alternative flours under the title of alternative product use. The children, who had a pleasant time in three sessions and experienced production in a professional kitchen, attended the graduation party in the fourth and last session of the project.
Little Chefs Graduation
The last session of the project was held at Istanbul Gelişim University Pocket Cinema. After the screening of two animated short films selected within the framework of the themes presented in the first three sessions, the children watched a video edited from their experiences in the kitchen. The children, who wanted to watch the video over and over, often expressed their happiness. After the screenings, certificates were presented to the students of the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts and Radio, Television and Cinema Departments, who voluntarily took part in the project and contributed to the project, to Dilber Kaya, the group leader who came with the children from Bahçelievler Şeyh Zayed Children's Houses Site, who supported the project. Each of the children was applauded by reading their names and graduation gifts were given. The session ended with a graduation cake.
