 IGU FAF Takes the Lead in the 1st International Tigris Documentary and Short Film Festival!

The 1st International Tigris Documentary and Short Film Festival, held in Diyarbakır from December 18th to 20th, 2023, kicked off with significant contributions from Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts.

The 1st Tigris International Short Film Festival is taking place with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey and the General Directorate of Cinema. Prof. Dr. Şükran Güzin Ilıcak Aydınalp, the Dean of IGU Faculty of Fine Arts, actively participates in the festival committee, while Ahmet Bikiç, a Lecturer in the Department of Communication and Design, assumes the role of the festival director, providing leadership to the organization.

The festival, organized by the Cinema Researchers Culture and Art Association (SAD), aims to bring together prominent figures from the academic and artistic worlds, fostering a competitive environment in the documentary and short film fields. Istanbul Gelişim University is a stakeholder in the 1st International Tigris Documentary and Short Film Festival, contributing to the development of culture and art.

Within the festival's framework, high-ranking university representatives, including IGU Rector Prof. Dr. Bahri Şahin, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Arda Öztürkcan, Corporate Communication and Promotion Department Head Asst. Prof. Dr. Bülent Değirmenci, and Festival Director Lecturer Ahmet Bikiç, participated in the events. In doing so, Istanbul Gelişim University not only supports the organization of the festival but also makes a significant contribution to its success by actively participating in the events.

Founding members of the festival organized by the Sineakademi Association, including Prof. Dr. Şükran Güzin Ilıcak Aydınalp, Dean of IGU Faculty of Fine Arts, and Festival Director Ahmet Bikiç, emphasize the importance of cinema art by engaging with academics from various universities in Turkey. The association aims to support the development of socially sensitive projects in cinema, creating public awareness and contributing to the country's cultural and artistic environment.

The honorary committee of the International Tigris Documentary and Short Film Festival includes important figures such as Diyarbakır Governor Ali İhsan Su, Dicle University Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karakoç, Chief Advisor to the Minister of Interior Prof. Dr. Ergün Yolcu, and IGU Rector Prof. Dr. Bahri Şahin. The festival aims to provide cinema enthusiasts with an unforgettable cultural and artistic experience in the heart of Mesopotamia, Diyarbakır.
