 Container Living Space Design Interview!

Interior Architecture Talks #14, organized by Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF) Interior Architecture, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (TR-ING) Departments #14: “Container Living Space Design Talk” online on Google Meet on 17 March took place.

The fourteenth of Interior Architecture Talks, jointly organized by Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF) Department of Interior Architecture & Departments of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (TR and ING), will be held at Nuriş Prefabrik with the title “Living Space Design in a Container”. With the participation of Safiye Ünal, who is the design architect, as a speaker, it was held online on the Google Meet platform between 15:00 and 16:30 on Thursday, March 17, 2023.

Basic Information About Containers Has Been Given

The “Container Living Space Design Conversation” took place as the first step of a series of events that will continue with workshops. In the conversation, after explaining what a container is, container design features were mentioned. Then, container design principles, types, and production techniques were explained with examples. In the talk program and presentation, topics such as container types, prefabricated structures, container properties, container joining details, material properties, and considerations in container design came to the fore.

Next Stage Design Workshops

Within the scope of the “Design of Living Spaces in Containers” project, which was organized to bring a design proposal for the container cities that were established or will be established for the earthquake victims whose houses were damaged in the 6 February Kahramanmaraş earthquakes, design workshops were held after the student groups and mentor faculty members who would be interested in each group were determined. The process will continue. After the presentation in which the basic information to be used in this process was given, the questions of the students and faculty members were answered. Students and faculty members who were or have been in the earthquake zone expressed their views on the process and needs.

The Conversation Was Held With The Intense Interest Of The Students

About 220 students and the Head of Interior Architecture Department asst. Prof. Dr. Parvin Heidari, Assistant Head of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department. Lecturer Selcen Nurcan Keskin Urmak, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (Eng.) Department Head Assistant. Lecturer İbrahim Erol, lecturers of Interior Architecture Departments: Lecturer Işın Hacıibrahimoğlu, Asst. Prof. Dr. Adem Özer, Lecturer Gökhan Balcıoğlu, Lecturer Hale Durmuş Ataş, Lecturer Serenay İnceoğlu, Lecturer Enver Tatlısu, Res. Asst. Tuğçe Öztürk, Res. Asst. Merve Karadaban, Res. Asst. Başak Lale, Res. Asst. Mustafa Dallı attended the talk which ended at 16.30.
