Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Department of Interior Architecture (IMI) Asst. Prof. Dr. Minel Kurtuluş came together with the students of Bakırköy Fine Arts High School between 10.45 and 12.00 on Monday, April 27, in the foyer area on the 12th floor of IGU Tower. The event, where a comprehensive presentation was made on the Department of Interior Architecture, course programs, and professional practices, was completed with a workshop bringing together design education and environmental awareness.

Concrete example of sustainable design: modular models

Within the scope of the event, the models prepared by the department students were introduced, and technical information about the production processes, materials used, and design approaches was shared. In particular, the modular models developed with an "assemble-and-disassemble" system logic attracted the attention of the participants as a concrete example of sustainable design. During the workshop, practical demonstrations were made on the reusability of existing model elements and their repurposing in different projects.

Circular economy perspective for future designers

At the event, where participants experienced production models that reduce material waste in design processes and support a circular economy approach, it was emphasized that sustainability is not just a theoretical concept but an integral part of design practice. The activity, which reveals the importance of eco-friendly and innovative production models in design education, was evaluated as an important step in helping future designer candidates gain a habit of sustainable thinking.

We would like to thank Asst. Prof. Dr. Minel Kurtuluş for her qualified academic guidance and valuable sharing aimed at prospective students.
