The article titled "Determination of Spatial Needs for Health Services in Epidemic Disease Processes" by Lect. Dr. İbrahim Erol, one of the faculty members of Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF) Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (Tr&Eng) Departments, was published in the 51st edition of the European Journal of Science and Technology.
From the abstract;
“Combating epidemics is a process that concerns health sciences and other fields and can only be achieved through multidisciplinary studies. The discipline of architecture is important in the creation and implementation of design criteria specific to the epidemic disease, taking into account the functional requirements of the buildings where health-related services are provided during epidemic disease processes. It is considered important to determine the status of health services and to determine spatial needs during epidemic disease processes. Within the scope of the study, first of all, the concept and history of epidemic disease, epidemic disease types, and transmission methods were examined. Then, the state of health services during epidemic disease processes was evaluated through the experiences of COVID-19, an epidemic disease transmitted by the respiratory tract. In this context, necessary evaluations were made to determine the additional health service structures and spatial needs that may be needed during the epidemic.”
We congratulate Lect. Dr. İbrahim Erol and wish him success in his academic studies.
