The final juries of Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF), Interior Architecture & Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Departments Summer Term Design Studio IV and Design Studio V project courses was held at the Design Studio on the 14th Floor of Gelişim Tower on Friday, September 2, 2022.
The final juries of the Design Studio V, conducted by Lecturer İbrahim Erol, and the Design Studio IV, conducted by Lecturer Aslı Kırbaş, were held on September 2, 2022. In the juries, which started at the design studio on the 14th floor of Istanbul Gelişim University K Block (Development Tower) on Friday at 09.00, the students presented their project works in different concepts. In the Design IV project, two different masses in Caddebostan were designed with specified functions; At the same time, these two masses were asked to produce a solution that connects them within the designs. In the Design Studio IV project, it was expected that the mass, which is assumed to be located in Nişantaşı, consisting of a basement and two floors, was designed according to a commercial building function determined by the student himself and a solution was produced.
İbrahim Erol, who was a jury member in Design Studio V and Design Studio IV interim juries, expressed his thoughts on the projects and the jury process as follows:
“On Friday, September 2, we held the jury of the Design Studio IV and Design Studio V project courses for our 3rd and 4th grade students. In the Design V project, while the students were designing two different buildings in Caddebostan with the functions they determined; They presented the design solutions they connected these two buildings to each other within their designs, and their plan, section and drawings, as well as the layouts containing the concept and material details, to the jury consisting of Aslı Kırbaş and Minel Kurtuluş, including myself. In the Design Studio IV project, the students designed the building, which is supposed to be located in Nişantaşı, which consists of a basement and two floors, according to a commercial building function that they determined. I congratulate our students who have put forward very successful projects in such a short time in the summer school. I would also like to thank our esteemed jury members and other faculty members who ensured that this potential in our students is revealed.”
