Research Assistant Tuğçe Öztürk from the Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (English) Department at Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) presented her thesis topic, "Examining the Impact of the Governing Methods on Space Production in the 21st Century: A Case of Istanbul, Beyoğlu," to the thesis monitoring committee as part of the PhD Program in Architecture and Design (English) at the Graduate School of Bahçeşehir University.
In her presentation, Öztürk provided explanations regarding the conceptual framework and detailed the methodology she developed in context. She mentioned that she would utilize cartographic research methods in her thesis, highlighting the benefits of employing contemporary research methods that leverage current technologies in academic studies and emphasizing the importance of these methods.
Öztürk explained how the policies implemented and social events that occurred since the early 21st century have shaped space production processes and examined the spatial reflections of these effects through the case study of the Beyoğlu District. She added that the unique dataset created using the cartographic research methods would constitute the original contribution of her work.
We congratulate Research Assistant Tuğçe Öztürk on her success and wish her continued success in her thesis processes.
