New Publication From Res. Asst. Mustafa Dallı!

A new article by Res. Asst. Mustafa Dallı, one of the faculty members of Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (Eng.), has been published.

The article titled "Ethical Analysis of Architecture on Structural Irregularities in Major Earthquakes in Turkey" by Res. Asst. Mustafa Dallı, one of the faculty members of Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (Eng.), is titled "International It was published in the 2nd issue of the 15th volume of the “Journal of Disaster Resilience in the Built Environment”.

Res. Asst. Mustafa Dallı made the following statements for his article titled "Ethical Analysis of Architecture on Structural Irregularities in Major Earthquakes in Turkey":

"The aim of this study is to question the relationship between architectural ethical codes and errors in earthquakes. Earthquakes have had devastating effects on all societies throughout history and today. The relationship and importance of architecture with regard to these devastating effects, which play one of the most important roles, become evident once again with each earthquake. Despite many regulations and ethical codes containing restrictions or warnings directed towards architects and the architectural profession to reduce this devastating effect, it is still possible to see the flaws originating from architectural design and the resulting destruction in every new earthquake. In this study, the most destructive earthquakes that have occurred in Turkey in the last 20 years (Bingöl, Van, Elazığ, and İzmir) and the 1999 Marmara earthquake, which is the most destructive earthquake in Turkey's recent history, and the damages that occurred in these earthquakes, their effects, and causes have been examined. Although the scope of the study is "destructive earthquakes that have occurred in Turkey in the last 20 years," the Marmara Earthquake that occurred in 1999, where the destructive effect of the earthquake was most observed and architectural design errors were intense, has also been included in the study. Ethical codes from different countries worldwide have been researched and examined in terms of issues such as public welfare, public safety, human rights, and raising the standards of the profession to gain a more comprehensive understanding of how these design-related errors are examined from an ethical code perspective and to make a more comprehensive comparison. The study concludes with a review of the fundamental factors learned from the ethical codes of different countries. The study ends with recommendations regarding the questioning of the relationship between legislation and education programs on a country basis. Targeting architects practicing the architectural profession and continuing their architectural education, this study evaluates architectural design flaws observed in earthquakes through ethical codes, laying the groundwork for subsequent studies."

We congratulate Res. Asst. Mustafa Dallı and wish him success in his academic studies.
