Lecturer Selcen Nurcan Keskin Urmak made the following statements about her work:
"Atatürk's vision of modernization contributed to the development of the typology of lodgings, reflecting in architecture with the proclamation of the Republic. Initially built for palace staff in the late Ottoman period, lodgings transformed into residential units offering social facilities such as healthcare, education, and recreation during the Republican era. The research examines the lodgings of Alpullu Sugar Factory and Nazilli Textile Factory, built during the Early Republican Period of Turkey, revealing that these settlements provided sustainable social living conditions. These lodgings, which increased employee satisfaction, played a significant role in the construction of the nation-state concept of the Republic."
