From Theory to Practice: Technical Inspection on the 27th Floor
As part of the Building Construction Knowledge II and Yapı ve Konstrüksiyon Bilgisi II courses, students visited the active construction site on the 27th floor of the IGU Tower. During the visit, conducted under the guidance of academic staff, the fundamental application stages that form the interior fabric of a building were examined in detail.
Manufacturing Processes Observed On-Site
The interior architects of the future personally witnessed the journey of a space transforming from a raw shell into a livable environment, gaining hands-on experience with critical technical processes. In this context, students conducted a wide range of inspections, from masonry techniques shaped by different materials and methods to the installation details of drywall partition systems, which are indispensable for modern interior designs. Observing plastering and surface treatments—the tangible on-site counterparts of theoretical material knowledge—the candidates gained professional discipline by learning the technical criteria required for finishing works directly from experts.
“We Aim for Sector-Ready Graduates”
The course instructors, Asst. Prof. İbrahim Erol and Lecturer Selin Rüya Çakır, stated that such technical trips broaden the students' vision. They emphasized that the discipline of interior architecture is not a process designed solely at a desk and that understanding construction site dynamics directly enhances design quality. Through information gained from site managers and master craftsmen, students had the opportunity to question the material-detail relationship and grasp the inner workings of professional life.
