What is a Double Major?
A Double Major is a program that allows a student to pursue two undergraduate or associate degree programs simultaneously. The aim of the Double Major Program is to enable students who successfully carry out their primary degree programs to also earn a diploma in a second field of study.
Double Major at IGU
Istanbul Gelişim University offers the Double Major Program to its students free of charge. Students whose Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is at least 2.90 out of 4.00 and who rank in the top 20% of their class in their primary degree program may apply for a second major degree program.
Students whose CGPA is at least 2.90 out of 4.00 but who are not in the top 20% of their class may also apply for a Double Major Program if their placement score is higher than the base score of the program they wish to enroll in for that academic year.
For programs that require a success ranking such as engineering, architecture, and health sciences, students must also meet the success ranking and score type requirements determined by the Higher Education Council (YÖK) for the relevant double major program in addition to the other conditions specified in the regulations.
To be eligible to apply for a double major program, the student must have successfully completed all credit courses in their primary undergraduate/associate degree program up to the semester of application and must not have received any disciplinary punishment.
Students enrolled in a double major program are entitled to extend their studies for a maximum of one additional year (Fall–Spring) free of charge. In subsequent extended terms, fees will be charged per credit.

What is a Minor?
A Minor is a program that allows a student to take a limited number of courses from another program while pursuing their primary degree program. The aim of the Minor Program is to enable students who meet the prescribed requirements to take a limited number of courses in a specific subject area within another program of the same higher education institution and to obtain a certificate (minor certificate) rather than a diploma.
At Istanbul Gelişim University, students with a minimum GPA of 2.50 and no failed courses may apply to the Minor Programs determined by the University Senate for that academic year and pursue the minor program free of charge. A student may apply to a minor program as early as the third semester and no later than the beginning of the sixth semester of their primary undergraduate program. Students who have successfully completed all credit courses in their primary program up to the semester of application are eligible to apply.
Students who successfully complete both their major and minor programs are awarded a certificate in the minor field in addition to their major diploma.
