Asst. Prof. Dr. Cansın İlayda Çetin Presented Her Paper at ART&DESIGN-2021

Asst. Prof. Dr. Cansın İlayda Çetin, from Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU) Fine Arts Faculty (GSF) Interior Architecture, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Departments, at the ART&DESIGN-2021 International Congress on June 22, 2021, presented her paper titled “Transforming Re-functionalized Historical Buildings into Exhibition Spaces: Tate ModernAnalysis of the Orsay Museum".

Making her presentation at 17:30 at the ART&DESIGN-2021 Congress held by Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University on 21-22 June 2021, Asst. Prof. Dr. Cansın İlayda Çetin made the following statements about her presentation:

"Today, based on the understanding of postmodernism and pop art, the exhibition style has been lifted from its shell and more bold and original exhibitions have begun to be produced. Until a few years ago, the idea of exhibition consisted of examining works placed on a wall or on a pedestal. Elements such as lighting, surfaces, and textures were ignored. "We would be content with what the space offers us. Compared to today, it can be said that it is far from exhibition in its own sense. As a result of the changes in social culture, the development of science and art and the change in social habits brought us to an exhibition period that can be defined as active and participatory. Thanks to the principle of providing language unity, objects can be distinguished from their hidden similarities. Rather than being placed according to their visible differences, the exhibited works can thus be arranged as part of a series rather than as a whole. Therefore, after the editing in the space, the grouping of objects is presented in a systematic way and these groupings come together as one. It begins to form a meaningful whole for observation and perception. In short, the concept of exhibition has become areas that become dynamic and move with the audience day by day. In this study, I tried to examine how the concept of exhibition, which is becoming more and more modern and dynamic today, is integrated with historical structures through two example structures. For this purpose, I chose the Tate Modern and Orsay Museum examples, as they are similar in scale and have recently been renovated. As a result of the study, I tried to put forward comparative architectural and spatial analysis schemes.”

We would like to thank Asst. Prof. Dr. Cansın İlayda Çetin for her contributions and wish her continued success.
