With its updated curriculum, the Department of Visual Communication Design combines AI-supported design with a hands-on educational approach. In a rapidly digitalizing world, the department aims to educate competent, tech-savvy, and creative individuals who can produce innovative solutions in the fields of graphic design, digital media, advertising, animation, and multimedia by integrating these disciplines with contemporary technologies.
The new curriculum emphasizes AI-assisted image generation, generative design, data visualization, augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR) applications. Through these courses, students not only gain theoretical knowledge but also receive practical training in multimedia studios, digital editing and sound design labs, and real project environments.
Head of the Department, Assist. Prof. Dr. Aslı KASAR, highlights the vision of the updated program with the following statement:
“Artificial intelligence is not just a tool in today’s design world, it represents a new way of thinking. That is why we teach our students both classical design disciplines and the technologies of the future together.”
In addition to a 60-day compulsory internship, students benefit from Erasmus exchange programs, double major and minor programs, and for the first time in Turkey, the opportunity to study in AI-based design studios.
Graduates of the Visual Communication Design Department have a wide range of career opportunities in advertising agencies, digital content production companies, social media and gaming industries, film and animation studios, as well as corporate communication departments.
Istanbul Gelisim University invites students who want to combine their creativity with artificial intelligence and shape the future of the digital design world to join the Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Visual Communication Design.
