Visual Communication Design

For Visual Communication Design Department students Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA)

The summer internship is a key milestone for students in the Visual Communication Design Department at IGU, allowing them to bridge university education with professional experience and develop their industry-related skills. As part of this process, students are required to complete an Internship Report, which is an official document that must be prepared with care and attention. Below are the essential steps and guidelines for preparing and submitting the internship report:

INTERNSHIP REPORT PREPARATION PROCESS
  • The internship report must be completed digitally. Handwritten reports will not be accepted.
  • Each working day must be described in at least one full paragraph.
  • A formal and academic writing style should be used. Passive voice is preferred (e.g., “was observed,” “was applied,” “was completed”).
  • Avoid first-person singular expressions such as “I did,” “I drew,” “I saw.”
  • Visual materials (photos, drawings, screenshots, etc.) should be properly attached to the relevant day’s entry (using staples or glue — paper clips are not recommended).
  • If there are digital files (e.g., design files), they can be burned to a CD and attached to the inside back cover of the report.
  • The final page, the "Internship Attendance Log Sheet," must be filled out completely, consistent with the report content, and signed daily by the internship supervisor.
  • The completed report must be printed and bound using spiral, spine, or hard cover methods. Reports in transparent folders or held together by staples will not be accepted.
DOCUMENTS TO BE ATTACHED & COMPLETION RULES
  • First Page: Students must indicate which year of their program the internship was completed in and provide full workplace contact details.
  • Evaluation Form (Sicil Fişi):
    1. Section 1 – To be completed by the student
    2. Section 2 – To be completed by the workplace (full name, title, date, signature and stamp are required)
    3. Section 3 – To be completed by the internship committee (leave blank)
    4. For first internships, check the “Group 1 Internship” box; for second internships, check the “Group 2 Internship” box.
  • Internship Attendance Log Sheet:
    • Exclude public holidays and Sundays.
    • Fill in each day clearly and completely. Mistakes must be corrected by rewriting the page — no cross-outs allowed.
    • Each day must be signed and stamped by the internship supervisor.
REPORT SUBMISSION PROCESS
  • The internship report must be submitted within one month after the internship ends.
  • Reports must be delivered in person, and students are required to sign the “Internship Report Submission Form” to confirm submission.
  • Reports must only be submitted to the following academic personnel:
    • Asst. Prof. Dr. Ayten Bengisu Cansever
Reports left on desks or submitted to any other academic personnel will not be accepted.
 EVALUATION PROCESS
  • Reports are reviewed regularly by the Visual Communication Design Department Internship Committee.
  • If any deficiencies or errors are found, students will be notified and must submit corrections within 10 business days.
  • Approved reports will be forwarded to the IGU Directorate of Student Affairs by the end of the following semester.
Students are strongly advised to read the IGU Internship Guidelines carefully to fully understand their responsibilities and ensure a smooth internship process.
