Two Films from RTS at Kalakari Film Festival!

Two short films shot by students of Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF), Radio, Television, and Cinema Department will be screened at the Kalahari Film Festival, which will be held in Indonesia on March 18.

The short film "Process", written by Berk Köse and Ferit Doğan and directed by Berk Köse, and the short film "Past, Future, Now", written and directed by Ferit Doğan, and directed by Berk Köse, are in Indonesia. It won the right to be screened at the Kalahari Film Festival held in Istanbul.

A few months ago, both the "Process" and "Past, Future, Now" films were screened at the Black Cat Award International Film Festival in Bolivia. Ferit Doğan, who is the screenwriter of the films that will be screened in Indonesia on March 18, and both the screenwriter and director of Past, Future, Now, stated that they are happy with the success of the films in their festival journey. Stating that they did not know that they would get such good results when they started to write The Process together with co-screenwriter Berk Köse, Doğan said that after these successes, their dreams are growing day by day.

In the Past, Future, Now project, Doğan stated that, unlike the Process, he wanted to highlight the damage that traumas cause to the human mind, and creates a universe where it is possible to go on a mental journey in the dystopian future he created in the film. Desire, the protagonist of the film, who goes on a mental journey, wanders through meaningless or strange places while wandering in the dark corners of her mind. Adding to his words that they prefer to confront the characters with their desires, passions, and fears in Process, Past, Future, Present, and their upcoming projects Stendhal, Doğan underlines that storytelling becomes much more enjoyable as they explore human nature.

New Project On The Way

The team, consisting of students from the Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema, who put forward a good unity and set an example for other students in collective work in this sense, continues to work on their new projects. The post-production work of the short film Stendhal, whose shooting was completed two months ago, written and directed by Berk Köse and Ferit Doğan jointly, continues. Stating that they will use original music for the first time in their new projects and that they have agreed on a professional name for this, Doğan stated that they will continue with a professional name working at Disney+ for the poster design, and emphasized that they are increasing their goals day by day. Adding to his words that one of his biggest desires is to bring different genres to Turkish Cinema and to show that it is not right to be stuck in only certain film types, Doğan stated that he has many ideals and that they have taken firm steps in line with these ideals as a team.

“The Hardest Part of Acting Is To Convey the Right Feeling”

Beyza Sude Yüksel, a student at the Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema, who took part in both the "Process" and "Past, Future, Now" projects, underlined that they produced two very different short films with the same team spirit and the same determination. Stating that she portrayed two different characters in two projects, Yüksel stated that the gothic character she portrayed in the short film "The Process" is very opposite to her character, adding that she worked for weeks both individually and with the team. Stating that she felt closer to Arzu, the protagonist of the movie "Past, Future, Now", Yüksel added that she had to play the characters by feeling, so she worked hard and practiced until she felt like he was experiencing the processes the characters went through. Yuksel, who has experienced two different characters and conveyed the right feeling to the audience with two projects, stated that the most difficult part of acting is the stage of succeeding in conveying this right feeling. She added that she was proud to take part in both projects that had a successful festival journey.

We congratulate all our students who contributed to the projects and wish them continued success.
