Can you tell us about your academic background? In which fields did you study and what studies have you carried out so far?
I received my undergraduate education from Artuklu University, completed my graduate education from Dicle University and started my doctorate education from Yıldız Technical University.
How did your interest in interior architecture and furniture design begin? What were the factors that influenced your choice of these fields?
During my undergraduate education, I was creating my designs by progressing with models. At the same time, I started the Olgunlaşma Institute. In this institute, I focused on wood carving and started to learn the details about wood. The fact that wood is a natural material and provides flexibility in design are among the reasons for my choice.
How do you think the furniture course contributes to the professional development of students?
The furniture course teaches students important steps in the field of architecture and interior architecture such as drawing, design and application. With these gains, their professional development progresses even further.
What kind of applications are carried out with students as part of the course?
As part of the course, we focus on furniture types, mobile furniture designs and more original designs with students. While doing these, by advancing with 2D and 3D programs, in the final part, a model or a certain scaled version of the furniture is made.
Are there any innovations you plan to make the IMI333 Furniture III course more effective in the future?
In order to make the furniture course more effective, it is planned to carry out some workshop applications with the students to develop both their social and technical aspects.
How do you define the importance of furniture design for students studying interior architecture?
It is seen that the fact that the student studying interior architecture has knowledge about the processes such as inspection and furniture design production application inside the spaces before creating the space design directs them to more grounded designs in terms of profession. And this has an important place in the professional life of the students, both in terms of the sector and in the management of the process in which the students create a product.
How are developing furniture design trends and technologies integrated into the education processes of the students?
Developing furniture and design trends are integrated into the education process with technical trips and furniture fair trips for the students.
