 Strategic Steps for Education and Industry Collaboration in the Interior Architecture Department


Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF), Interior Architecture Department, met with its external stakeholders to improve the quality of education and strengthen university-industry collaboration. Important collaboration decisions were made at the meeting, including technical trips for students, internship support, and professional consultancy.


Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF), Interior Architecture Department held a strategic meeting with its external stakeholders for the 2025-2026 academic year. The Department Board Meeting, held online, was chaired by the Head of Department, Asst. Prof. Kadir Öz, and attended by faculty members and industry representatives. Tuğrul Dönmez from TD Yapı and Öztürk Aslan from Bağcılar Municipality Public Works Directorate, participating as external stakeholders, shared valuable insights and assessments on the Interior Architecture Department's educational processes and its alignment with the industry. Industry representatives focused on concrete steps that would contribute to the professional development of students. In line with the decisions made at the meeting, it was planned to organize technical trips to construction sites so that students can observe their theoretical knowledge in the field, and to provide active support during their internships. It was also decided that selected student projects would receive consultancy support from industry professionals. This aims to give students the opportunity to develop their projects from a professional perspective.
Based on the suggestions of external stakeholders, it was decided to organize Maxqda training to enhance students' academic and professional competencies. In addition, it was stated that special meetings would be organized to support the adaptation and success processes of international students in the department.
The Head of the Interior Architecture Department, Asst. Prof.. Kadir Öz, stated that the organic link with the sector would be further strengthened with the renewal of external stakeholder agreements, and that feedback from external stakeholders would be carefully considered in the curriculum development processes.
