Interior Architecture

Res. Asst. Başak Lale was a guest of the project mid-term jury!

Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Department of Interior Architecture Res. Asst. Başak Lale participated in the Istanbul Bilgi University, Department of Interior Architecture project jury as an invited jury member.

Istanbul Gelisim University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Interior Architecture Res. Asst. Başak Lale, took part in the mid-term jury of the 2024-2025 Spring Term graduation project of the Department of Interior Architecture, Faculty of Architecture, Istanbul Bilgi University. The mid-term jury of the graduation project coded IND402 was held on March 18, 2025. The project, in which the students addressed the structure known today as “Blind” in the Asmalı Mescit area, allowed the senior students to present their final design ideas before graduation.

Within the scope of the project designed with the concept of “Let the music play”, it is planned to transform the venue into a musical entertainment/leisure venue designed by the students. In this sense, the revival of the ‘live music’ culture of this venue bearing historical traces and its design with original ideas allows both students to understand the value of historical structures and cultural heritage and to interpret today’s entertainment habits/needs through one of the most crowded areas of Istanbul.

“Analyzing the environment and culture is essential for an interior designer!”

Lale thanked the course instructor, Lecturer Aslı Kırbaş, who enabled the structure, which bears historical traces in the sense of form in the context of the history of architecture/interior architecture, in which she has been working for years, to be functionalized in harmony with culture, for her professional concern and valuable invitation.
After the jury is complete, Lale shares her thoughts on the project outcomes as follows:

“The building, which is located in one of the busiest social arteries of Istanbul from past to present, carries the traces of not only the past it carries but also the traces of social and daily life. In this sense, it can be said that it is one of the most suitable examples for interior architecture students to handle as a project. As part of the mid-term jury, students of the Graduation Project course coded IND402 shared with us the spatial concepts they created with various concerns. At this stage, without proceeding with the plan of the building yet, presenting the live music culture by combining it with their analyses seems to have allowed them to create an infrastructure without being bound by formal concerns. Each student addresses the transformation of the Asmalı Mescit area from past to present together with that of the space. They also emphasize the points they want to highlight with their concept ideas that are just starting to mature. I would like to thank Lecturer Aslı Kırbaş for her kind invitation and wish her students success.”

For her opinions, Res. Asst. We thank Başak Lale and wish her success in her academic studies.
