Interior Architecture

Res. Asst. Başak Lale joined the project final jury as an invited jury member.

Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF), Department of Interior Architecture, Res. Asst. Başak Lale participated in the 2024-2025 Spring Semester Graduation Project Final Jury of Istanbul Bilgi University, Faculty of Architecture, Department of Interior Architecture as an invited jury member.

The final jury meeting took place on June 17, 2025. As part of their Graduation Project, coded IND402, students presented their final designs for the historic structure located in Asmalı Mescit, now known as "Blind." In their projects, developed under the title "Let the music play," the students shared their vision for transforming this historic structure into a music-themed entertainment/relaxation space. Inspired by the history of both the building and its surroundings, the projects, developed by the students themselves and supported by solid foundations, aimed to offer a unique experience for the space's users. Designed with the aim of revitalizing live music culture, the projects also demonstrated how the students connect cultural heritage with contemporary entertainment practices.

The jury members who listened to the final presentations noted that the student projects contained strong analyses aimed at understanding the historical context and highlighted a culture-based design approach. Approaches to Asmalı Mescit's place in social memory, combined with specific interpretations of the building, created a unique content for each project. As part of the final jury critiques, the students were asked to revise their three-dimensional drawings and technical details at specific points and include them in their portfolios with updated versions.

Res. Asst. Başak Lale thanked project manager Lecturer Aslı Kırbaş for the invitation and commented: “I was very excited to see a building with such a rich cultural history being reimagined to meet today's social and spatial needs. Being involved in the process from the development of project concepts to the presentation of the final products and witnessing the development was incredibly valuable. I would like to thank project manager Lecturer Aslı Kırbaş for her valuable invitation and thank her students for their efforts.

We thank Res. Asst. Başak Lale for her contributions and wish her continued success in her academic career.
