The Interior Architecture Department of Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF), has added a new initiative to its efforts to develop the creativity and design competencies of its students, with the vision of training the interior designers of the future. Organized in this context, the "Interior Architecture Department 2024-2025 Fall Semester Student Projects Exhibition" showcased the innovative and original work of the department's students to art lovers and industry professionals.
The projects painstakingly prepared by Interior Architecture Department students during the 2024-2025 Fall Semester, as part of Project I, III, and V courses, were exhibited at the opening ceremony on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 12:00 PM in the Foyer Area of IGU Block J, Ground Floor. The exhibition remained open until April 11, 2025.
The students' solutions to various design problems were highlighted in the exhibition. Villa design projects featured residential spaces that combined aesthetics and functionality, while restaurant designs featured unique gastronomic spaces focused on spatial atmosphere, concept development, and user experience. Cultural and art center projects stood out with their creative spatial solutions that supported the effective use of art and culture in public spaces.
This event successfully reflected the students' process of putting their theoretical knowledge into practice, taking design ideas from the conceptual stage to practical details. The exhibition provided an important platform for students to showcase their competencies in functional planning, aesthetic values, material selection, and innovative concept development. [2, 15, 18] It also provided an inspiring experience for architecture and design enthusiasts, students, and academics.
"We support our students' creative and original perspectives"
The Faculty of Fine Arts Dean stated that they encourage students to produce innovative projects that combine aesthetic concerns with functional solutions. He emphasized that, as a faculty, they support students not only with theoretical knowledge but also with projects that enable them to bring their designs to life and make a difference in the industry.
We congratulate our students and the faculty members who advise them and wish them continued success.
