“Container Living Space Design Workshop”
Organized by Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF) Interior Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Environmental Design (TR-ING) Departments, the "Container Living Space Design Workshop" was held online on Google Meet on March 24.
Organized jointly by Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF) Interior Architecture Department & Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Departments (TR and ING), the event was held online on the Google Meet platform between 12:00-14:00 on Friday, March 24, 2023, and titled "Container Living Space Design Workshop" with the participation of Interior Architecture Department lecturers and students.
The workshop started with the opening speech of asst. Prof. Dr. Parvin Heidari, Head of Interior Architecture Departments. Then, Heidari announced the latest status of the pre-determined groups and mentors of the students who want to participate in the project. After mentioning the last updates about the project, the last information was given.
Basic Information About the Considerations in Container Design is Given
“Container Living Space Design Workshop” took place as the second step of the series of events. Selcen Nurcan Keskin Urmak explained the design principles determined at the Workshop and drew attention to the basic issues that should be considered in the design process. After his presentation, one student from each group took the floor and talked about the design processes and ideas. Faculty members of the Interior Architecture Departments also shared their ideas to make a joint decision about the limitations to be considered in the design process.
Next Stage Design Processes of Groups
Within the scope of the “Design of Living Spaces in Containers” project, which was organized to bring a design proposal for the container cities to be established for the earthquake victims whose houses were damaged in the February 6 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes, the interview took place on March 17, followed by the determination of the student groups and mentor teachers who will take care of each group, and the design proposal. The process continued with the workshop. And the process will continue after the determined groups start their designs with their mentor teachers. Groups will be expected to create result products with the Google Meet meetings that they will hold within themselves for a week.
The Conversation Was Held With The Intense Interest of The Students
The workshop was attended by approximately 40 students and Interior Architecture Department Head Parvin Heidari, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department Vice President Lecturer Selcen Nurcan Keskin Urmak, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (Eng.) Department Vice President Lecturer İbrahim Erol, Interior Architecture Departments lecturers, Asst. Prof. Dr. Adem Özer, Lecturer Gökhan Balcıoğlu, Lecturer Serenay İnceoğlu, Lecturer Enver Tatlısu, Res. Asst. Tuğçe Öztürk, Res. Asst. Merve Karadaban, Res. Asst. Başak Lale and Res. Asst. Mustafa Dallı ended at 13.30.
