The Head of the Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department, Asst. Prof. İbrahim Erol, opened the orientation session by first introducing the department’s academic staff. He presented each faculty member, lecturer, and research assistant to the students, briefly highlighting their areas of expertise, academic work, and course content. Following these introductions, Dr. Erol provided a comprehensive overview of the Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department, outlining the department’s vision, main objectives, and both short- and long-term goals for its students. He emphasized the skills students are expected to gain throughout their education, the importance of an interdisciplinary approach, and the professional development opportunities available. In addition, he gave detailed information on the university’s general education systems, the student information system, course registration procedures, exam regulations, and administrative requirements that students need to be aware of during their academic journey.
The event was further enriched by the participation of the entire academic staff of the department. Asst. Prof. Volkan Öztaş, Lect. Serenay İnceoğlu, Lect. Cansu Sözer, and Res. Asst. Mustafa Dallı introduced themselves to the students, sharing their academic backgrounds as well as the courses they teach in the department. They provided students with detailed information about the department’s academic structure, practical training opportunities, project-based courses, and the functioning of studio work. Moreover, the faculty members highlighted the importance of direct communication between students and instructors, reminding students about consultation hours. It was emphasized that students can easily reach out to their instructors during designated days and hours for any issues or requests.
The orientation event was not only a valuable step for new students to consciously begin their academic lives but also an important occasion for strengthening the sense of belonging within the department and building a strong academic bond.
