The main agenda of the meeting focused on updating the course contents of both the Turkish and English programs for the 2025–2026 academic year. It was emphasized that program outcomes should align with updated educational goals and that the content control processes must be carried out in accordance with pre-determined criteria. Additionally, the use of Bloom’s Taxonomy as an effective tool for evaluating course content was highlighted.

Eight Criteria to Be Applied in Course Content Revisions

One of the significant decisions made during the meeting was the evaluation and necessary revision of course content based on eight key criteria. These criteria include course definition, aim, scope, learning outcomes, weekly schedule, bibliography, assessment methods, and teaching-learning strategies. It was decided that all course contents should be reviewed and updated accordingly by July 20, 2025.
Furthermore, faculty members assigned as course coordinators were instructed to work collaboratively during the content revision process, ensuring coordination particularly between the Turkish and English programs. It was also decided that course sharing files should be completed and the content review process should begin by July 4, 2025.

Emphasis on Coordination in Jointly Offered Courses

Attending the meeting, Lecturer Kadir Öz, Head of the Interior Architecture Department, emphasized the need for coordinated preparation of course content for courses jointly offered by the Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (TR & ENG) and Interior Architecture programs. He underlined the importance of cooperation among instructors to maintain academic quality and consistency, which would in turn offer a more coherent learning experience for students.

Bloom’s Taxonomy and Educational Goals

The meeting also addressed the application of Bloom’s Taxonomy training previously provided by Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sezgin Savaş. Special attention was drawn to the accurate formulation of learning outcomes according to Bloom’s cognitive domain levels, especially in relation to the second and third criteria. This approach was noted to support the development of students’ critical thinking, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation skills.

Unanimously Approved Decisions to Enhance Educational Quality

Following the discussion of all agenda items, the meeting concluded with the unanimous approval of the proposed decisions. The meeting was considered an important step towards strengthening the academic structure of the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design and enhancing its quality assurance processes. Participants noted that the implementation of these decisions would not only bring course contents up to date and enrich their quality, but also restructure the programs with a student-centered and holistic approach.

The Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design will continue to take sustainable steps for academic development and to strengthen its commitment to quality-focused education in the upcoming period.
