As part of the high school outreach programs organized by Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), students from TÜROB 50th Year Şişli Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School visited the University on March 10th. During the event, students were provided with comprehensive information regarding the department’s educational content, culinary practices, and career opportunities within the gastronomy sector. The program also included a tour of the "B Block Gastronorm Kitchen," one of the department's primary application laboratories.
The introductory session, which allowed high school students to find answers to their questions about both university life and gastronomy education, was led by Res. Asst. Dr. Ayşe Seray Engin. During the program, Engin shared general insights into the academic structure, applied course content, practical kitchen lessons, and professional opportunities in the field of gastronomy. Students gained knowledge about the privileges of studying Gastronomy and Culinary Arts within the Faculty of Fine Arts, as well as details on kitchen activities, events, and academic options such as Double Major (DMP) and Minor programs. Following the presentation, students had the opportunity to observe culinary practices firsthand by touring the B Block Gastronorm Kitchen. The event concluded with a Q&A session where students' inquiries about the university, the department, and the culinary profession were addressed.
We would like to extend our gratitude to Res. Asst. Dr. Ayşe Seray Engin and all the participating students for this delightful event.
