 “Let Our Food Be Safe: Food Safety” Seminar Held at Halit Armay Anatolian High School


Assoc. Prof. Murat Doğan, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA) at Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU) and faculty member of the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, visited Halit Armay Anatolian High School as part of TÜBİTAK Science Talks.


On May 28, 2025, Assoc. Prof. Murat Doğan delivered his talk titled “Let Our Food Be Safe: Food Safety” at Halit Armay Anatolian High School within the scope of TÜBİTAK Science Talks. The event, which drew great interest from both students and teachers, highlighted the vital importance of food safety.
In his presentation, Assoc. Prof. Murat Doğan focused on the potential risks associated with food consumption and the preventive measures that should be taken to avoid them. He emphasized that food safety is not only crucial for protecting individual health but also for ensuring public health and supporting the national economy. He particularly stressed the necessity for consumers to act consciously and choose accurate and reliable food products.

The aim of the TÜBİTAK Science Talks is to raise awareness in fields such as basic sciences, social sciences, technology, engineering, art, and design, and to enable the target audience to understand scientific topics, concepts, and processes through the experiences of an expert speaker. These talks seek to make scientific knowledge accessible to broader segments of society and to encourage especially young people to engage with science. Within this framework, the seminars are delivered by expert academics in a clear and interactive manner, providing opportunities for discussion and Q&A sessions to address students’ questions directly. Assoc. Prof. Murat Doğan’s talk, “Let Our Food Be Safe: Food Safety”, made a significant contribution to helping young people develop awareness of healthy eating habits, understand the importance of consuming safe and reliable food, and gain insight into scientific developments in this field.

During the event at Halit Armay Anatolian High School, students had the opportunity to ask their questions about food safety directly, allowing them to gain a deeper understanding of the topic. The seminar was a successful scientific gathering aimed at raising awareness about the consumption of healthy and safe food.

At the end of the event, a bouquet of flowers was presented to Assoc. Prof. Murat Doğan by Vice Principal Ms. Serpil in appreciation of his contributions, and the event concluded with a group photo session.
