SineAkademi II International Dicle Congress of Cinema and Media Studies Successfully Concluded

Contemporary issues of the digital age discussed from an academic perspective

Held under the theme “Technology Addiction and Artificial Intelligence in the Digital Age: Transformation in Cinema, Media, and Communication,” the congress addressed technological developments shaping today’s media ecosystem from multiple perspectives. Scientific sessions explored topics such as the impact of artificial intelligence on media production processes, the transformation of digital culture, the role of algorithmic systems in communication practices, technology addiction, and digital ethics.

During the three-day program, academic paper presentations, panel sessions, talks featuring industry professionals, and film screenings were organized. Researchers from various universities had the opportunity to share their current studies in media and communication, while participants were able to follow emerging discussions concerning the future of the field.

Esma Baykara, a fourth-year student in the Department of Visual Communication Design (VCD) at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Istanbul Gelisim University, also participated in the congress with her research paper. Baykara presented her study titled “Technology Addiction, New Media Use, and the Transformation of Family Relationships in the Digitalization Process.”

The study examined the effects of digital technologies on everyday life, patterns of new media use, and the reflections of these changes on family relationships. The presentation attracted considerable interest, particularly due to its focus on the impact of digitalization on social relationships, and became the subject of various academic discussions.

Contribution to academic collaboration

Bringing together the fields of cinema, media, communication, and technology on a common platform, SİNEMED 2026 encouraged knowledge sharing among researchers from different disciplines and contributed to the development of new academic collaborations. With its strong emphasis on supporting scientific production, the congress played an important role in increasing the visibility of current research in cinema and media studies while strengthening interdisciplinary interaction.
