The academic staff of Visual Communication Design continues to grow!

The Department of Visual Communication Design continues to develop

The Department of Visual Communication Design, operating under the Faculty of Fine Arts, continues to expand its academic staff. Having started her position in the 2025–2026 Spring Semester, Research Assistant Nuran Akarsu expressed her satisfaction in joining the Istanbul Gelisim University family. Akarsu stated, “It is very valuable for me to begin my academic career at an institution like Istanbul Gelisim University that supports production and development. Contributing to both academic and practical production processes in the field of visual communication design is also a great source of motivation for me.”

Akarsu also noted, “In my research practice, I focus on human-computer interaction (HCI), participatory design, and co-design processes. Developing methods that make design processes more inclusive and user-centered, and bringing this approach into academic education, is particularly exciting for me.”

She is continuing graduate studies

Nuran Akarsu graduated in 2024 from Yildiz Technical University, Department of Communication and Design, ranking second in her class. During her undergraduate studies, she took an active role in managing comic and animation communities and assumed responsibilities in organizing various events. Through these experiences, she gained both creative and collaborative skills.

Following her undergraduate education, in 2025 she began her graduate studies in the Interactive Media Design Master’s Program at Yildiz Technical University. During her graduate studies, Akarsu is conducting a thesis focusing on participatory design and ideation methods. She has also been involved in participatory design workshops within the scope of a Scientific Research Project (BAP) and is developing her thesis based on the outputs of this project. She is currently continuing her studies in this program and pursuing research in human-computer interaction, interactive media, illustration, participatory design, and visual communication.
