IGU Production “Sesler” Short Film to Premiere in Italy

The short animated film “Sesler” (Voices), directed by Ahmet Bikiç, Lecturer at Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Visual Communication Design, and written by Burcu Çekiç, Deputy Coordinator at IGU Corporate Communication Office, has achieved remarkable international recognition. Entirely produced with artificial intelligence tools, the film will be screened at the Secondigliano Film Festival to be held in Naples, Italy, between 22–24 October 2025.

The film portrays the dreams, pressures, and invisible burdens resonating in a student’s quiet room. Private lesson voices, technological expectations, and social pressures gradually turn into a cacophony that engulfs the student’s inner world. Amid this noise, the student struggles to find their own breath and silence. “Sesler” offers an experimental narrative that makes inequalities in education visible through art.

From its script to sound design, visual world to poster, every stage of the film was created using AI tools, making it one of the innovative examples in cinema. Designed with cinematic prompts to generate both visuals and sound, “Sesler” was inspired by a true-to-life story and brought to the screen as an original experiment.

Director Ahmet Bikiç reflected on the production process:
“Sesler reflects the inner world of a student, while at the same time offering a unique experience by being created with artificial intelligence. For us, this was not just a short film but also the discovery of a new form of storytelling. While aiming to highlight inequalities in education, we wanted to show how art and technology together can create a universal language.”

Istanbul Gelişim University continues to stand out with its approach that merges art and technology. The international screening of “Sesler” is considered both an indicator of the university’s support for innovative projects and a sign of its growing global visibility.
