 “Digital Photography Workshop-I” by Asst. Prof. Çağdaş Topçu


Organized by the Department of Visual Communication Design at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Istanbul Gelisim University as part of the Artistic Development Activities, the “Digital Photography Workshop-I”, held on March 24, 2026, was conducted by Head of the Department of Visual Communication Design, Asst. Prof. Çağdaş Topçu.


Focusing on the fundamental principles of digital photography, the workshop offered comprehensive content aimed at improving students’ technical knowledge and practical skills. During the event, the basic concepts of digital photography were discussed, while different types of digital cameras and their usage features were introduced through practical demonstrations.

Within the scope of the workshop, students were informed about the classification, areas of use, and technical differences of digital cameras. In particular, tips on how to photograph moving scenes using the correct techniques were shared, and through hands-on shooting practices, students were given the opportunity to gain field experience.

The main purpose of the event was to help students learn the fundamental principles of digital photography, familiarize them with digital cameras, improve their ability to photograph moving scenes using proper techniques, and raise awareness of visual storytelling.

At the end of the workshop, it was observed that students gained fundamental technical knowledge about digital photography, became more familiar with different camera types, and acquired practical experience in photographing moving scenes. In addition, the workshop was considered to have contributed to the development of students’ visual storytelling skills, strengthened their aesthetic perspectives, and enhanced their ability to express themselves through photography.

It was also stated that such practice-based activities organized by the Department of Visual Communication Design will continue to contribute to strengthening students’ professional competencies and supporting their creative production processes.
