Visual perception and consumer behavior discussed
Among the speakers of the event were Enes Dalgıç, Social Media Manager and Graphic Designer at Ithaki Publishing Group, and Melek Gülşen, designer at The Cey Group. Sharing their professional experiences with students, the speakers provided important insights into brand communication, social media design, visual attention management, and digital content production processes. Through examples based on industry experience, participants had the opportunity to examine current design practices.
Within the scope of the workshop, the effects of visual perception on consumer behavior were discussed through topics such as color usage, typography, visual hierarchy, and attention-grabbing strategies. Students examined real industry examples to better understand how user attention is directed on digital platforms and how visual elements influencing purchasing behavior are constructed.
It was also emphasized that user experience has become increasingly important in digital media environments, and that visual communication design should be evaluated not only through aesthetic concerns but also in relation to user psychology and communication strategies. The speakers noted that the shortening of attention spans on social media platforms directly affects design processes.
The strategic dimension of design highlighted
Throughout the event, the speakers emphasized that designers today are not merely individuals producing aesthetic outputs, but also strategic actors who manage audience attention, influence user behavior, and establish connections between brands and consumers. Particularly within the context of social media, striking examples were shared regarding the impact of rapidly consumed content on perception management.
During the workshop, students had the opportunity both to gain insights into professional industry practices and to evaluate current design approaches. In the interactive event, students directed their questions to the speakers and obtained direct information about professional production processes.
